So hopefully this year Darwen Tower will get it's new top after being blown off in the gales 12 months ago. The news came out in last nights' Lancashire evening telegraph . The tower is a land mark on the West Pennine Moors above Darwen, it was built to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, hence it is also known as Jubilee tower, it also marked the local peoples victory to right to roam on the moors.
For me it's a favourite landmark and usually forms a point on many of my runs and bike rides, so I'll be glad to see the top put back on.
If you fancy a ride doing some bike skills over the moors or want to try some navigation skills drop me a line as this is a perfect area to practise.
