Log on top of Coniston Old Man
Better late than never, but last weekend I was working on a training day for Widnes Vikings Rugby League Team who have recently been promoted into the Premier league. Well done lads. The task they had been set unbeknownst to them was to take a 6 foot log up to the top of Coniston Old Man to help with all the good things that come with being a Premier Rugby League Team including team work, leadership and physical fitness, to name a few. With my background I have done a few log carries in various parts of the world and under various conditions but I've not seen anyone take one up Coniston Old Man.
The lads broke down into 3 teams and set off at intervals. All reached the summit and with plenty of people out enjoying the day it was with some surprise that they saw this feat unfolding, but all on the hill that day offered plenty of support and encouragement, and being the type of the team they are they rose to this.
Good effort all round to the team and the coaching staff, and good luck for the coming season.
