Darwen Towers' new top
Today Darwen Tower got it's new top. The previous one blew off in the winds in November 2010 and this is only the third time the top has been replaced since the tower was built in 1898 for Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee. It was a glorious day on the moors but quite chilly, and around 100 people turned out to see something that, hopefully if it's been built right, we'll not see again. Thanks must go to WEC group who stepped forward and took this on as a project and contribution to the town.
Here's a bit of video footage from when the top was finally put in place.
