National Navigation Award Scheme (NNAS) - Silver Award

Two more dates added to our calendar for the NNAS Silver Award are:
6/7th July and 5/6th October 2013.

This is a two day course based in the West Pennine Moors and includes training and assessment with a certifcate upon successful completion.

The learning outcome of this course is 'to be able to plan & follow routes in the countryside away from paths and tracks'. (Source NNAS handbook)

Skills taught on this course include:

  • Set a compass bearing from map to ground
  • Use a compass to follow bearings accurately across open ground over short legs
  • Use aiming off to reach a target on a linear feature
  • From an attack point use fine navigation to locate a target
